What is stress?
Stress can mean different things to different people. Stress is often defined as a mismatch between the demands placed on us and our ability to cope with these demands. The way we cope with these demands will depend on the way we think, our personality and our previous life experiences etc. Stress is difficult to measure, but we all know what it feels like and how we cope in stressful situations. For some, it can threaten to take over their lives while for others, once they are aware of its causes and effects, stress can add excitement and challenge to their lives. It can be positive when it motivates us to get things done, however, it can be negative when we feel constantly pressurised or traumatised by too many demands.
According to Ayurveda and naturopathy body is made up of five elements water, air, fire space and earth and nature also made up these elements to maintain the health body and mind we have to balance with nature. When we break the natural life style like proper diet, sleep, work etc more prone to ill health .According to the ayurveda the body is governed by three fundamental biological principles — called doshas— that control all of the body's functions. These doshas are Vata (regulates movement), Pitta (regulates metabolism) and Kapha (regulates structure). All three doshas work together. One's individual mind/body type is determined by the natural predominance of one or more of these three doshas in the body.

Testimonials 2012
“5 years ago I knew nothing about Ayurveda, when I heard the term for the first time I thought it an unusual eastern word and was mildly interested to learn more, never realising how profound a difference the knowledge of Ayurveda would be in my life. Quite simply, my life is much more grounded and happy, and getting happier as I release stress all the time - how good is that!
After I learnt TM (transendental meditation) which has been the single most important technique that I have learnt and I am grateful to have discovered it; I began to learn about the different constituent types in Ayurveda - Vata, Pitta and Kapha and began to discover how simple changes in my routine and diet could bring about a greater sense of calmness and well-being; This is what the knowledge of Ayurveda continually does for me - it gives me self-knowledge to understand how I change with the seasons, with the time in my life and even with the time of day ! It provides me with practical strategies to make life more and more enjoyable and to release stress and tension. For example, during the Autumn which is a VATA period, daily self-massage with sesame oil and warming foods coupled with the TM keeps me very good.
For me, the knowledge in Ayurveda is the missing element in Western medicine - it is the science of how to keep well. It complements Western life and gives it the richness, the wholeness we are all searching for

“In June last year my very clever daughter entered a competition and won a Father’s Day present for me - a series of back massages at The Serenity Day Spa in Glasthule. I duly turned up for my first massage in all my 68 years and was met by a kind Indian gentleman .I happily returned each month for my relaxing back massage and during each session Dr Raju emphasised to me that the massage he performed was more than just for relaxation but had deep health implications also.
Consequently, early this year, when I was recovering from a particularly difficult knee replacement and was making only slow progress with physiotherapy I contacted The Serenity Day Spa and placed myself in Dr Raju’s capable hands, this time for much more than relaxation.
While the physiotherapy, which I continued, dealt with the mechanical aspects of my knee, Dr Raju dealt with the whole me. Not only working hard to un-knot the muscles in my thigh and swelling in my knee but also massaging and relaxing my whole body and quietly instructing me in the art of patience and positive attitude. I see his work as complimentary to, rather than a replacement for, regular physiotherapy and look forward to my complete recovery.
I have benefitted greatly from meeting Dr Raju and during our sessions have discovered that his prime ambition in life is to help people and he will travel wherever he needs to for this desire to be fulfilled.”
For The Serenity Spa and the people of Dublin I hope he puts roots down here.
