How Does Your Diet Affect Your Skin

Clean, clear and glowing skin is the hallmark of youth. If you sincerely want to change your skin then you'll have to change your diet. Your skin is the largest organ in the body and one of its functions is to help you get rid of waste.

Too little healthy foods and too many unhealthy foods can interfere with the normal processes of your digestive system. When the body can't get rid of these toxins properly it seeks other means to get rid of them. Your skin becomes one of those means, minimally causing breakouts as a result.

Eat enough protein, fruits and vegetables and eliminate process foods. This is the first step in getting the skin you always wanted. Drink plenty of fresh mineral water and cut your intake of carbonated drinks and alcohol.
  • Always wash /clean your face at night-time-You need to wash/ clean your skin to remove oil, bacteria, makeup and dirt, and keep your pores unclogged. Sebum is the enemy to sensitive, acne, rosacea skins. Choose a face cleanser or wash specifically formulated for your skin type.
  • Exfoliate once a week. Exfoliation helps give your skin a fresh start by buffing away dead cells and revealing a smooth layer. This is a great way to unclog your pores, eliminate sun damage and fine lines over time and it gives you and instant healthy glow to your skin.
  • Keep Your Skin Moisturised and protected.-The right moisturiser for your skin type can help nourish and protect it and keep it soft and supple. However, one of the main benefits that moisturisers provide is a barrier between your skin and the elements. See that your daily cream has a high broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

Summer!!We thought it would never arrive! Though we all love to frolic in the sun this time of year, the potential harm it can cause is substantial. The sun causes wrinkles, blotchy skin, and skin cancer, the most common type of cancer. How can you protect yourself and your loved ones? The Skin Cancer Foundation actively promotes the use of sunscreen with a broad spectrum SPF of 15 or higher when outdoors for any length of time.

Here are some additional guidelines they recommend for keeping your skin safe this summer:
  • Seek the shade, especially between 10 AM and 4 PM. This is when the sun's rays are the harshest.
  • Do not burn. Every sunburn increases your chance of melanoma.
  • Reapply sunscreen every two hours or immediately after swimming or excessive sweating.
  • Keep newborns out of the sun. Sunscreens should be used on babies over the age of six months.
  • Examine your skin head-to-toe every month. Look for any changes in your skin.
  • See your Doctor/ or Dermatologist every year for a professional skin exam. Regular total-body checkups are the best way to make sure your skin is healthy.
  • Be sure to stop by the salon or Spa to pick up your sunscreen along with additional tips for keeping your skin vibrant and healthy while playing outdoors!
