What is the Rejuvapen Micro Needle Used to Treat?

What are Micro Needle Side Effects and Dangers?

The dangers of having a trained expert apply a Micro Needle treatment are minimal. Some clients experience redness in the skin that can last for up to five days, but patients are allowed to wear makeup after one day in order to hide this. Other clients may experience some light burning, mild flaking and tightness. Clients may notice a significant difference in the texture of the skin within a couple of days to weeks. During the treatment, patients describe the process as feeling like tiny pin pricks that not pleasant but tolerable on the whole.

How Many Micro Needle Treatments do I Need to See Results?

The Rejuvapen Micro Needle technique is similar to the technology of a Fraxel laser that utilises an intense thermal mechanism on the skin but at a much lower price. Just as these lasers take a series of treatments in order to see the best results, so does the Micro Needle. The average patient can expect anywhere from three to six sessions depending on their needs. Once the final results are achieved on a client, we usually recommend they return for one to two sessions a year to ensure the results last.

After Care advice for The Rejuvapen micro needling system.
 

1. Apply a complex repair cream such as Dermaceutic K ceutic cream to the treatment area. This may be used day and night – it has terrific healing properties. It also has a factor 50 SPF.
2. For exposed skin apply a total sun block every day. Mineral SPF such as Sheer SPF by Skinceutical or Mineral based Dermaceutic Sun Ceutic SPF50 is best for the first week post treatment. Dermaceutic K ceutic is also good to protect and soothe.
3. The treatment may cause erythema (redness), swelling or a burning sensation, but this will disappear within a few hours.
4. You can use an over the counter 1% hydrocortisone cream to calm any excess irritation that may occur.
5. Clean the skin with wet cotton wool the first night after the treatment. You may like to use a clean wet cold face cloth to soothe. Ice cube in damp cotton also cools. Only do this if the skin redness/inflammation is excessive as we have created a certain level of inflammation for the purpose of collagen induction.Use Skinceutcal Hydrating B5 Gel or Phyto corrective mask to hydrate
6. At night apply Skinceutical Resveratrol / Kceutic or Panthenol Ceutic Nourishing Restoring Ointment. Do not pick or scratch the treated area. Allow to heal.
7. Do not wear makeup for at least 48 hours.
8. Avoid this treatment close to a big event.

What to expect - 

Rejuvapen is well tolerated by patients but, dryness, scaling, redness and swelling may be seen after treatment, lasting for up to 3 days or longer, depending on the depth of penetration of the needles. The micro-incisions created during micro needling will close approximately 3-5 minutes after the treatment, resulting in a low risk of infection. Generally the treated areas recover rapidly from skin needling. However there are occasional side effects, which include;
1. Skin infection with bacteria (rare) or herpes simplex virus (cold sores).
2. Milia and mild acne flares.

After micro needling the course of recovery follows a typical pattern;
•Day 1. Erythema and redness (comparable to moderate sunburn) some minor swelling. Some minor pin point bleeding (dependent upon needle depth).
•Day 2. Erythema and swelling begin to subside.
•Day 3. Erythema and swelling subsides; skin takes on a pink colour.
Days 1-3 skin will be very dry and tight, moderate skin flaking is normal. Drink plenty of fluids & keep skin well hydrated and protected .

How Many Treatments will I need?

Every client  is different and the number of treatments needed does vary depending on the condition being treated, but the following are very good guidelines:
• Acne Scarring - 4-6 Treatments, 6 weeks apart.
• Skin Rejuvenation/Collagen Induction - 4-6 Treatments, 4 weeks apart.
• Stretch Marks - Approx. 4-6 Treatments, 6 weeks apart.
