Epsom Salt bath.

Epsom Salt bath.

 If showering is a sprint, taking a bath is like a leisurely promenade on a warm day.  The only real reason to do it is to relax (ever tried washing your hair during a bath?—doesn't work). So make an event out of it: Pour yourself a glass of wine- light just enough candles so that you've got ample mood lighting but not a fire hazard...and before hopping in, all but empty one bag of Epsom salt into the water. And why not use it as a jumping-off point for a whole bevy of bath add-on recipes in the process? Hey, if you get a little wine in your bath, we hear that’s pretty good in the anti-aging department as well.

To Moisturise: Epsom Salt + Coconut Oil
 Actress Phoebe Tonkin told us, the oilier she goes to bed the better. Along with an entire box of Epsom salts, she adds a cup of coconut oil. “I just dip my hands in and scoop the coconut oil out of the jar with my hands. It melts in the bath, and then when you get out, it’s all over your body.”

To Relax: Epsom Salt + Lavender Oil
 For a more aromatherapeutic experience, add a couple of drops of lavender oil to your Epsom salt bath. Lavender not your thing? Sage is another good one. The combination detoxifies your body via Epsom salts and your mind with calming sleepy-time scents. “It’s so relaxing and healthy...and good for your muscles.

To Detox: Epsom Salt + Hydrogen Peroxide
 Another favourite is the combination of Epsom salt and hydrogen peroxide. Use a whole box of Epsom salts and either a bottle of hydrogen peroxide or a packet of baking soda. Equal parts salt and hydrogen peroxide. It makes you sweat all of the toxins out and all of the bad stuff.

Lemon & Lavender Epsom salt bath

Ingredients

1 – 2 c. Epsom salts

1/2 c. unpasteurised apple cider vinegar

5 – 10 drops Lavender essential oil

2 Tbsp lemon juice

Preparation Method
·        In the evening, ideally before bed, begin to prepare your bath;
·        Mix Epsom salts into a quart jar full of very hot water. Stir with a wooden or plastic spoon (not metal) and set aside.
·        Draw a nice hot bath and pour in the lemon juice, apple cider vinegar & a good quality essential oil.
·        Pour contents of quart jar into the tub and mix well with your hands.
·        Schedule yourself at least 40 minutes for this bath: 20 minutes to remove stored toxins, and 20 minutes to absorb the minerals in the water. **You can also rub your skin gently towards your heart, to stimulate the lymphatic system and as an extra boost in eliminating toxins.
Note
Please avoid Epsom baths if pregnant, or dehydrated. And please be extra cautious when getting out of the tub, as the detoxification effect of the bath may leave you feeling a little light headed. This is also why this bath is best taken before bed.
There are two key ingredients found in Epsom salts;
1.      Magnesium – A mineral which helps to keep your bodily functions running smoothly, including some of the pathways that lead toxic wastes right out of your beautiful body. This mineral also plays a critical role in improving muscle and nerve function, reducing inflammation, and improving blood flow and oxygenation throughout the body.

2.      Sulphate - These are necessary building blocks for healthy joints, skin and nervous system tissue; and the combination of these ingredients help to gently flush those pesky toxins.
There are so many great benefits to this detoxifying bath. So grab a good book, a large glass of water and get ready to enjoy yourself.
